Bot Builds

Interactive Brokers' weekly login and your bot

Interactive Brokers makes you log in again about once a week and approve it on your phone. No software can do the phone part for you.

The daily restart

The bot talks to Interactive Brokers through their Gateway program, and the Gateway restarts once a day. With its auto restart setting on, it logs itself back in most days without your phone.

The weekly login

About once a week the restart needs the full login. You type your username and password into the Gateway yourself and approve on your phone. If you set up notifications, the bot tells you when it's due. I can't do it for you, and I'll never ask for your password or the code.

If you miss it

The bot can't reach Interactive Brokers, so it doesn't trade until you log in. Stops and targets already sitting at Interactive Brokers keep working. The end of day exit needs the bot connected, so if a trade is open, log back in before the close.

One login at a time

Interactive Brokers lets one login stream live prices at a time. If you open Trader Workstation or the phone app on the same login while the bot runs, it can knock the bot's prices off, and the bot stops trading. Close the other one and restart the bot.
